Kennel Muzzles for Greyhounds & Other Breeds

GREYHOUND MUZZLES – Kennel Muzzles are required for every Greyhound owner during coursing, or competitive active play with other Greyhounds. Also for inappropriate behavior while at home or attending meet and greets. The muzzle construction is a soft plastic grid regulation size. The adjustable headstall fits all Greyhounds from 40 lbs to approximately 90 lbs. The kennel muzzle is designed with an open grid-end for eating or drinking water. An attachable optional “stool guard" is available for other behavior problems. The “stool guard” will allow the hound to drink water but will not permit eating rocks, wood and/or other undesirable items.

Greyhound muzzles may fit other dog breeds. Review measurements below. We will determine proper muzzle sizing for other breeds.

MUZZLE SECURITY STRAP (Attachment for all GH Kennel Muzzles)
In the event the dog is able to aggressively remove the standard kennel muzzle; the Muzzle Security Strap securely attaches the muzzle to the dog's collar.

Great for attitude adjustment! The Greyhound can drink water, but cannot eat the wrong things. Also, prevents the Greyhound from licking healing wounds or abrasions. (Easy to install: Simply place the white plastic stool guard directly inside the regulation track muzzle and secure with the 2 plastic ties provided).

OTHER BREED BASKET MUZZLES – Basket muzzles are soft vinyl plastic with a double reinforced nose section. A second inside nose piece retainer is removable for added snoot length. A long Nylon strap is adjustable with a “quick-snap” connection for a wide range of head stall sizing.

MUZZLE MEASUREMENTS – The basket muzzle sizing above is only a suggested size guide. We recommend the following muzzle measurement guideline for a more accurate fit.

We request the following measurements to make an accurate muzzle size recommendation. We will gladly do a muzzle exchange; if our sizing recommendation is not correct and your measurements are accurate. (Additional shipping cost may apply)

First, locate a soft 1” wide cloth tape (seamstress type) ruler. If you do not have a cloth tape - cut a 1” wide piece of paper and tape 2 sections in a line to make about 18” long. Take measurements and mark the end overlaps. Lay the tape out flat to measure.

1. NOSE LENGTH – Measure at the base of the eyes along the nose to the end of the nose. (Measurement should be approximately 3” – 5” long.)
2. SNOUT CIRCUMFERENCE – Measure  around the circumference of the snout (nose) just below the eyes on all breeds. (Measurement should be approximately 6” – 12”)
3. HEAD STALL CAGE STRAP – Measure from one eye around the ears to the other eye. (Measurement should be approximately 10” – 18”)
4. WEIGHT – We require the type and weight of your breed (i.e. Borzoi, Lab, Boxer, etc).

Compare your dimensions to the chart below:

1. Nose Length – You will require approximately 0.375” (3/8”) on No 2, 3 and all sizes No 4 and up 0.50” (1/2”) for end of nose basket clearance.  Adjust the head stall strap to approximately 0.375 (3/8”) on No 2, 3 and all sizes No 4 and up 0.50” (1/2”).  Remove the inner basket if you need more nose clearance.  The muzzle should hang down on the nose below the eyes approximately 0.50 on smaller sizes and 1.00 on all larger breeds.
2. Snout Circumference – Allow an approximate 1” larger diameter larger than your circumference measurement.  The muzzles are “inside diameter” measurement.
3. Inner baskets - on size No 4 – 10 can be removed for more nose clearance.
4. Head stall cage strap - is fully adjustable.  Once adjusted, the excess strap can be removed.

Every Greyhound owner should have a squawker in the event your hound gets loose. The Squawker will bring your hound back to you PRONTO!  Watch the reaction when you give a couple of squawker honks. Your hound will immediately do a complete turn-around and come running back to you.  Caution: Use the squawker only for emergencies. Your hound will not respond to the sound if used on a regular fun game type basis.
